My art is greatly influenced by the indigenous and traditional art of both the Lumad and Moro in Mindanao. I borrow the images and patterns used in their wood carving, weaving, embroidery and brass casting.

Primarily, I have adopted this not just as a technique but to promote and preserve the richness of my roots and culture. I owe my entire art education by living with them and my immersion generated a wealth of experience which enriched and directed my art.

So, as a grassroots artist- researcher I make it a point to document vanishing indigenous traditional art processes and promote the use of indigenous art materials.
